Sea Island Shrimp House is a staple in San Antonio. It is located across the street from North Star mall (mall with the large pair of cowboy boots in front). If you go shopping at North Star mall, there is a high probability that you will end up eating at Sea Island for lunch or dinner. The food is good and reasonably priced. I learned today while an elderly couple was ordering in front us that there is also a senior menu. When you order your food, you are given a buzzer and when your food is ready, they bring it to your table.

The restaurant is super casual, laid-back with an extensive amount of seating. While I grew up in San Antonio, and frequented Sea Island, I have not been to Sea Island in a number of years. The décor is absolutely unchanged...a familiar feeling.

The cashiers are extremely friendly and quick to offer recommendations, if needed. The food is delivered to your table reasonably quickly and hot.

I met a San Antonio friend for an early dinner and was surprised to see how many folks were dining at that time. My friend recommended the lemon pepper fish, which I took her recommendation with green beans and fries. She had the lemon pepper fish with Cole slaw and rice. My friend really enjoyed her meal and due to the large size took some of her meal home. My fish was perfectly seasoned and lightly breaded. My green beans were not was I expecting in a good way. The green beans had bacon bits, tomatoes and onions included with great seasoning. My fries appeared to be hand cut as they were square and long with no fry crumbs. OMG...those hush puppies were divinely cooked. My meal was very satisfying. I ate my entire meal because I had skipped lunch and was very hungry.

I will need to remember Sea Island when I'm visiting San Antonio. Great food, great prices, great service!
