When you’re in a Sea Island Shrimp House, you’ll see people order like they’ve done it a hundred times, while others take a moment to look over the menu and figure out what sounds best.
If you’ve ever stood there deciding, we’ve got you.
These are the meals our crew orders for themselves. They’re the ones they look forward to after a long shift, the ones they keep coming back to, and the ones they know will be good every time.
If you want an easy place to start, start here with our crew’s favorite seafood dishes.
What Does the Crew Keep Coming Back To?
We asked our crew members, who know the menu by heart and have eaten their way through just about everything, what dishes they recommend.

Lemon Pepper Fish
If you like having a go-to order you don’t have to think about, this is it.
The lemon pepper fish keeps things simple in the best way. It’s broiled, lightly seasoned, and lets the flavor of the fish come through. Nothing heavy, nothing complicated. Just a clean, satisfying plate that does exactly what you want it to.
It’s also the kind of meal that fits any mood. Want something filling, but not too much? This works. Want something you can finish and still feel good about after? Works, too.
Most people don’t call it their favorite right away. They just keep ordering it. Then one day, it clicks.

Classic Shrimp Salad (Find it at Our Rector Location!)
This is one of those orders you hear about from someone who’s been coming here a while.
The classic shrimp salad at our Rector location is fresh, filling, and easy to enjoy. It’s simple, well-balanced, and you finish it feeling good, not heavy.
A lot of us turn to this when we want a break from fried food, but still want something satisfying. You finish it and think, “That was exactly what I needed.”
And once you start ordering it, it tends to stay in your rotation.

Beef Kabobs
Not seafood, but definitely part of the family.
The beef kabobs are what people go for when they want something hearty and a little different, without straying too far from the menu they already love. They’re filling, flavorful, and easy to enjoy.
Most of the time, though, it doesn’t stop there. People add shrimp on the side without even thinking about it. Suddenly, you’ve got a plate that covers everything you were craving.
That’s how a lot of favorite seafood orders come together here. You mix, match, and end up with something that just works.

Grilled Chicken Greek Salad
There’s always that one order you turn to when you want something lighter, but still filling. This is that one.
The grilled chicken Greek salad shows up a lot, especially on days when you want something fresh, but still satisfying. It’s easy to eat, easy to enjoy, and doesn’t slow you down after.
It’s also one of those meals you don’t have to think twice about. You know what you’re getting, and you know it’s going to be good.

Hushpuppies (With Everything)
Let’s be honest. You didn’t come in thinking, “I’m definitely getting hushpuppies.” And yet…here they are.
They come with a lot of meals, and even when they don’t, someone adds them anyway. No meeting, no vote. It just happens.
You grab one, then another, and somehow the basket’s already empty.
At some point, they’re not really optional anymore. They’re just part of the plan.
How the Crew Actually Orders
Here’s the truth. There’s no one “right” way to order here.
Some days it’s all grilled. Some days it’s a mix. Sometimes you stick with what you know. Other times you add something new just to change things up.
That’s how these turn into favorite seafood dishes. You try things, you adjust, and over time, you figure out what you keep coming back to.
It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to taste good to you.
If You’re Ordering for the First Time
If this is your first visit, keep it simple.
Start with something you know people keep coming back to. The lemon pepper fish is always a solid choice. If you want something lighter, the shrimp salad or grilled chicken Greek salad are both easy wins.
Beef kabobs with a side of shrimp just makes sense. You get a little bit of everything, and it always feels like a good call.
And yes, go ahead and get the hushpuppies. (You were probably going to, anyway.)
Most people don’t find their favorite dish on the first try. It usually takes a couple of visits, and that’s part of the fun.
What You’ll Probably Come Back For
It usually starts pretty casually, without much thought. One visit turns into another, and before long, there’s already something in mind before even stepping up to order.
These are the kinds of meals that get you there—the ones that don’t let you down and don’t make you wish you ordered something else halfway through.
And once you land on your favorite seafood order, everything just feels easier. You walk in, order, and you’re already looking forward to that first bite.
